Muswellbrook Race Course, Muswellbrook

Muswellbrook will again host the “Wild Card” meeting of the Country Championships on Sunday 26 March. Horses that run in one of the preceding regional races but are yet to qualify for the final in Sydney on Saturday 1 April 2017, will have the opportunity to contest the $50,000 prize money on offer for the coveted two remaining places in the Country Championships final.

The day will be promoted as a family friendly race day with plenty of entertainment for the kids while the beautiful shaded grounds will provide a lovely ambience showcasing true country racing.

Muswellbrook is located in the Upper Hunter, approximately three hours north of Sydney. The town is rich in mining resources, yet is also surrounded by beautiful wineries and some of Australia’s finest thorughbred breeding establishments.

The RN Webber Racing Centre hosts Silks Restaurant providing a glamorous setting while also being a popular local venue for weddings and functions.

Last year's winner of the Country Championship final was Clearly Innocent trained by Scone's Greg Bennett while the Wildcard winner was Chrysolaus trained by Jane Clement.
