The township of Muswellbrook is located right in the heart of the Upper Hunter, an hour and half from Newcastle, and is the ideal base to explore the region.

Steeped in History you will find historic buildings, grand country homes, and jacaranda lined streets.

Muswellbrook is a powerhouse of new energy projects, mining and agriculture.

The town has developed a reputation for also producing award winning wine, olives, and delicious cheeses that can be enjoyed at local restaurants and at the farm gate.

In September, every two years, the town celebrates the Upper Hunter being the birthplace of the Australian Cattle Dog by holding ‘The Great Cattle Dog Muster’ festival. The event draws visitors from around the region, across Australia, and from overseas.

Muswellbrook is also home of the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre, where you will find the Max Waters Collection and the prestigious Muswellbrook Art Prize.
